Rita (Dion) Goulet, 91, wife of the late Gerald A. Goulet, formerly of Woodland Manor, passed away on October 7, 2013, at the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield, where she had been a resident for the past five and a half years.

Rita was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, September 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Rocheleau) Dion. Rita loved and enjoyed doing handiwork. She was an excellent seamstress, knitter and maker of hand-braided rugs, all of which she executed with precision and care. In the early years of computers, she worked as a keypunch operator in Rhode Island and in New Bedford, Mass. In later years, she worked for her cousin George Roy at his fruit stand in Dayville, Connecticut and at the Griswold Rubber Company in Moosup, Conn. Before her retirement, she was employed as a respiratory therapist at Cranston (RI) General Hospital.

Rita is survived by her sister, Alice Kilmartin of Hamden, Conn.; four children, Susan Griffiths and her husband, David of Killingly, Conn., Geraldine Jordan of Plainfield, Conn., Claudette Champagne of Warwick, RI and Guy Goulet and his wife, Kathy of Coventry; ten grandchildren, Alicia (Griffiths) Justice, Tricia (Griffiths) Swatko, Marcia (Griffiths) Farquhar, Adam Griffiths, Erik Jordan, Mark Jordan, Gary Champagne, Stephen Champagne, Steven Goulet, and Ashley Goulet; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, Friday at 8:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul’s Church, One St. Paul’s Place, Cranston at 10 a.m. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
