Texas Roadhouse employees throughout New England recently visited Camp Sunshine to prepare meals for families with children with life-threatening illnesses. Partners from stores visit Camp Sunshine every year to help raise funds and support the camp at each of their 17 locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Impacted by the organization and the work they do for families across the country, the restaurants wanted to do more after their first visit to Camp Sunshine four years ago. Since then, the stores hold an annual fundraising campaign selling paper “sunshines” at each location.
This year, more than 100 “roadies” who were the top fundraisers in their locations presented Camp Sunshine with a $115,000 check after the campaign. This amount was enough to fully sponsor last week’s oncology session and allowed 40 children with cancer and their families the ability to attend Camp Sunshine free of charge.
Camp Sunshine is an award-winning retreat on the shores of Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Attending families join others on similar journeys and experience the benefits of empathy, encouragement, recovery, recreation, and hope.
