Robert E. “Bob” Malo, 78, of Warwick passed away Saturday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Charles O. and Eunice M. (Wright) Malo. Mr. Malo was an accountant at Quonset Naval Air Station and the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Boston from 1974 until his retirement in 1992, after 35 years of civil service. He was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Committee of Greenwood Credit Union in 1993, where he served until his retirement in 2006. He was a graduate of Nelson B. Aldrich High School, class of 1952 and Bryant College, class of 1955, where he received his B.A. and B.S. degrees. Bob was a lifelong member of Hillsgrove United Methodist Church, now Open Table of Christ. He was a member of the Dahlia Society of Rhode Island and received many awards including “Best of Show” for his prize Dahlias.
He is survived by his lifelong friend, Aline Nugent of Pawtucket; his goddaughter Janet (Willett) Kennedy of Helena, Ala., formerly of Warwick; and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) followed by a funeral service at 12 noon in Open Table of Christ, 35 Kilvert Street, Warwick, RI 02886. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
