Robert E. Stewart, 84, o of Wakefield, passed away Thursday, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Beecher) Buonaccorsi Stewart, for 36 years.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late Carlton C. and Camella (Baker) Stewart. Mr. Stewart was an Independent Insurance Agent in Torrington, Connecticut for Nationwide Insurance Company for many years, until retiring. He chose this line of work because of his love of people. Bob was a two sport athlete in football and basketball and had tryout offers from several professional teams.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Robert E. Stewart, Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Mark B. Stewart of Cumberland, Maryland, Todd P. Stewart and his wife, Carrie of Elkton, Maryland, Carla A. Stewart of Perryville, Maryland, and Robert E. Buonaccorsi and his wife, Ann of Warwick; six cherished grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Victor Szymanski of PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his family, children, cherished grandchildren, and extended family members, he also leaves his buddies for the South County Wellness Center who he enjoyed working out with daily. He was the brother of the late John Stewart and Naidene Szymanski.
The funeral will be 8:45 a.m. Friday from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 p.m.
