Robert J. “Doc” Haley, 84, of Warwick passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2013. He was the loving husband of Jean P. (Austin) Haley. They were married for over 65 years.

Bob Haley was born in Providence, the son of the late Michael Edward and the late Margaret C. (FitzGibbons) Haley. He was the brother of Margaret A. Haley and the late Edward S. Haley. He was a graduate of Gorton High School in Warwick and was employed by the New England Power Company for 33 years, retiring in 1991 as the general foreman of mechanical maintenance at Narragansett Electric Company. Bob spent many hours on Narragansett Bay as a commercial shell fisherman in his early years and returned to the bay after his retirement.

Besides his wife, Bob Haley is survived by his five children, Robert A. Haley and his wife, Linda, of Warwick, Stephen E. Haley and his wife, Nancy, of Richmond, Linda J. Hoopis and her husband, Christopher, of Warwick, David M. Haley and his wife, Diane, of Richmond, and Matthew J. Haley and his wife, Francie, of Coventry. He also leaves ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bob Haley’s happiest times were with his family and friends at his home in Warwick.

Calling hours will be Monday, July 29, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick. His funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
