Robert J. McLaughlin, 51 of Warwick, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Tammy L. (Sullivan) Smith-McLaughlin.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward M. McLaughlin and Lorraine M. (Gentes) McLaughlin. Mr. McLaughlin was a Chef at the Pentagon and several local restaurants. He was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, a volunteer for Warwick Vows, where he received the Volunteer of the year award in 2012, and served on the PTA for Warwick Schools. He proudly served in the United States Air Force.

Besides his wife, he leaves his devoted son, Andrew J. McLaughlin of Warwick, and his three stepdaughters, Ashley E. Smith, Alyssa L. Sullivan, and Amanda L. Smith, all of Warwick. He was the brother of Michael M. McLaughlin and his wife, Dottie of Warwick, John McLaughlin and his wife, Pam of North Kingstown, and Janet Catelli and her husband, Richard of Warwick. He was the cherished nephew of Marilyn Conroy.

His Funeral will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in The Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95).
