Robert J.L. Hodge, age 77, of Chestnut Street, Warwick, died at home on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Abrahamson) Hodge.
Born in South Kingstown, the son of the late Robert M. and Catherine (Williams) Hodge, he lived in Wales, Massachusetts before moving to Warwick 25 years ago. He was a graduate of Bryant College and a United States Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Hodge was the owner and operator of Best Taxi in Warwick for 15 years before retiring 7 years ago. He was previously the owner of Hi-Cube Transport and Specialty Transport for 10 years. He had also been a traffic manager for U.S. Envelope.
He is survived by his partner of 22 years, Gloria L. (Perry) Conley; four sons, Robert J.L. Hodge, Jr. of Flower Mound, Texas, Jeffrey C. Hodge of Nantucket, Mass., Richard J. Hodge of Sturbridge, Mass., and Eric R. Hodge of Braintree, Mass.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and his beloved pet, Jada.
