Rocky Hill students winners at robotics

Students in Rocky Hill School’s robotics independent study course participated in a qualifying tournament of the FIRST Tech Challenge at New England Tech on Saturday, Jan. 18. The FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics competition that allows students to compete head to head using a sports model.

Sophomore Zachary Jennings and junior JC Armonies-Assaslone and their robot, The Mariner, were part of the winning alliance at the tournament. The relatively simple design of their robot and the team’s willingness to collaborate with others at the tournament were key factors leading to this victory. Sophomore Tyler Gates also contributed to building the robot. Next up for the students is the FIRST Tech Challenge regional competition Feb. 8.
