Roger J. Martin, age 85, formerly of Warwick, died on May 8, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. Married for 57 years, he was the husband of the late Blanche L. (Paquin) Martin.

Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, a son of the late O’Neil and Roseanne (Bouchard) Martin, he lived in Warwick for 30 years. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Martin served as a firefighter for the City of Providence for 22 years. He was a member of the Pilgrim and Buttonwoods Senior Centers in Warwick, and was an avid bowler with the Young at Heart Team. He was a communicant of St. Timothy Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by eight children, Denise A. Cameron of West Warwick, Laura A. Martin-Hodge of Hurst, Texas, Raymond L. Martin of San Diego, California, Richard W. Martin of Poughquag, New York, Annemarie Lambert of Warwick, Jeanne M. Hormuth of Alameda, Calif., Paul H. Martin of Cranston, and Nicole R. Boschetto of Groton, Connecticut; a brother, O’Neil Martin of Cranston, two sisters, Anita O’Brien and Lorraine Abbaticola, both of Cranston; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Albert J. Martin, Cecile M. LaViolette, Beatrice Keller, M. Jeannette Feole and Maurice Martin.

His funeral was held on Saturday, May 11, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial with military honors was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
