Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC®) of Eastern New England recently presented a $16,000 grant to Kent Hospital in Rhode Island to purchase essential neonatal equipment to help improve newborns cared for at the specialized care nursery.

Michael J. Dacey, MD, MS, FACP, president and chief operating officer at Kent Hospital, said, “With this funding we can continue to update and advance our clinical capabilities in caring for newborns. We are very honored to receive this grant and to continue our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities.”

“For over 28 years, RMHC of Eastern New England has created, identified and supported programs which directly improve the health and well-being of thousands and thousands of local children and families every year,” Karen McEachern, executive director of RMHC of Eastern New England, said in a statement. “We are proud to support Kent Hospital in Rhode Island, they make a difference in babies’ lives at a critical time. This is the second grant we have given to Kent Hospital to support their mission of bringing quality medical care to children and families.”

Kent Hospital is the second largest provider of maternal and child care services, and offers the additional benefit of a Level II nursery in its Women’s Care Center. Kent Hospital delivers more than 1,000 babies annually and offers the only community hospital-based special care nursery in Rhode Island. For more information, log on to kentri.org.
