Red Sox scholarship

Toll Gate High School graduate Taylor Dorsey was one of 34 Rhode Island 2016 high school graduates to receive a Red Sox Service Scholarship. As a sponsor of the program, the Ford Motor Company Fund’s, Gerry Miles was on the field to help present the students with their awards at Fenway Park prior to a recent Red Sox game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is the scholarship program’s fifth year in Rhode Island. It was first launched in New Hampshire in 2010 and now runs in all five New England states outside of Massachusetts. The $1,000 Red Sox Service Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic performance, financial aid eligibility and demonstrated community service. Dorsey will attend Rhode Island College. Congratulations Taylor! Another Toll Gate High School success story. Hey, they must have some great teachers. Those "great teachers" deserve contracts and the School Committee would rather spend the taxpayers money in court than sitting down with the teachers and talking.

Warwick also deserves a Mayor that cares enough to attend the School Committee meetings. The current guy hasn't attended one. I haven't missed one. I will replace his "hands-off" policy with a "hands-on" policy. Since 2009 the Warwick taxpayers have spent over one BILLION of our tax dollars on the School Budget and today we have :

    1. teachers with no contracts.

    2. students with no Chromebooks.

    3. Buildings that are literally falling down and

    4. a Mayor the refuses to get involved.

As Mayor I will get involved as much as the law, and the teachers union allow. Which do you prefer?

Please vote for me and visit www.correntemayorwarwick.com.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to Autumn.

Congratulations to you Taylor! I was happy to read this article, and thought of how excited I would be at her age to stand on the field at Fenway Park. I would have a story to tell familly and possibly my own kids one day. Very Cool.

Mr. Corrente however feels this is a good venue to throw a rival politician under the bus, detracting from these students accomplishments. Republican, democrat, whatever. I am neither. Shame on you. You owe this girl an apology.
