Some motorists did double takes and even contacted the Beacon after seeing all the exercise equipment lined up outside Planet Fitness on Warwick Avenue Wednesday – “Were they moving?” Planet Fitness closed for the day to make the transition from old to new equipment while expanding its floor space from 16,000 to 21,000 square feet. Renovations to the building include new locker rooms and, naturally, the Planet Fitness purple color scheme. Steve Lukin, who bought the Warwick store last August, said Planet Fitness is partnering with the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs to help “stomp out bullying.” A grand reopening is set for March 2 at 11 a.m. Lukin called the club a “judgment free zone.” Here, assistant manager Shelby Porter gets to try out some of the new equipment.
