Reopening to an even grander Planet Fitness

With new equipment and expanded facilities, Planet Fitness on Warwick Avenue held a grand reopening Thursday. A regular, Mayor Scott Avedisian who usually arrives at the facility around 5 a.m. for an hour-long workout, returned later in the morning to snip the ribbon backed by a lineup local elected officials, the Sholes family that leases the building, fitness staff and representatives from the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs that Planet Fitness supports. Nationally, Planet Fitness franchisees, have committed $1.3 million in grants and donations to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and STOMP Out Bullying to fund this initiative. Local owners Steve and Anne Marie Lukin said working with members and staff they plan to raise funds to support a range of activities and educational programs to reduce bullying. With the upgrades, Planet Fitness has also increased its hours. The facility is open around the clock Monday beginning at 12 a.m. to Friday. It is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. I hope that it is cleaner than it used to be and that they addressed the air quality issues. Not worth the $10 a month when going there creates health issues.

RI Voter, I hope they've added security cameras in their facilities and parking lots- I don't know how many Police Logs I've read detailing thefts from the facility and parking lot that said there was "no video surveillance of the area of the theft"- they seem like an inside job; obviously they can't put cameras in the locker rooms, but monitoring the entrances to those areas would help greatly.
