Hundreds turned out Sunday afternoon to hear Billy Gilman sing at Balise Toyota in Warwick and then have him personally autograph photographs for the benefit of the Arts Reach Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The event was free of charge, but those wanting autographed photographs were asked to make at $20 donation to the hospital. The program, which reaches about 250 children facing medical and psychological issues a year, brings artists to teach into the hospital. The cost of the program is about $23,000 a year and is funded through donations. Dr. Michelle Rickerby, program co-director with Dr. Diane DerMadderosian, called the program “good medicine.” Here, Gilman autographs a photograph for Shirley Sabatelli of Warwick, a devoted fan, who has followed Gilman’s career as a former child country-music star to his meteoritic ascendance on NBC’s “The Voice.” Gilman, who has visited Hasbro, helped raise $3,272 for the art program.
