Students in the Toll Gate Transition Program have been holding a food drive to benefit the Westbay Marketplace since late January. Those collecting for the program are attempting to meet Westbay’s great need of specific items, especially from the months of January through April.

Pictured are students Adam Celona and Rachael Ghigliotty packing up canned donations and student Shane Reilly weighing food at Westbay Market. In the following weeks, students are looking to collect the following; Week of 3/6: oatmeal variety packs; Week of 3/13: 14 to 20 oz. jars of peanut butter; week of 3/20: canned vegetables (14 oz.); Week of 3/27: gluten free foods (canned or storable), items marked gluten free such as soups, peanut butter, macaroni, quinoa, canned green vegetables and other items; Week of 4/3: diabetic-friendly foods, canned or storable, such as whole wheat flour, wheat germ, cornmeal, beans or canned vegetables, and other items that do not contain corn syrup or have a high sugar content. To date, the drive has brought in more than 50 food items totaling 50.68 pounds. Donation boxes can be found at the Toll Gate main office, outside of the gym on the 2nd and 3rd floor, and in the lobby of the Career Center building.
