More than 315 runners – and some walkers –participated in the 5K hosted by three Pawtuxet-area schools Friday evening that concluded with live music and food trucks at Pawtuxet Park. According to one of the event planners, Jennifer Carney, each of the three schools – Wyman Elementary and St. Peter Tri-Parish School in Warwick, and Rhodes Elementary in Cranston – are expected to receive from $3,000 to $4,000 once expenses have been meet. The community pulled together to make the event happen with contributions of beer kegs from I. M. Gann Liquors and music from Cranston’s School of Rock. Above, fourth-grade Rhodes School teacher Stephanie Pearson gives Ray Memery a cooling splash following the race. Memery said it was the first race he’s run since he was a teen. The race took runners from the Aspray Boathouse along Narragansett Parkway and back to the boathouse. (Herald photos)
