Jeanette Berad, who with her late husband George help start the card league at the Warwick Senior Center when it operated from Buttonwoods (it’s now at the Pilgrim Senior Center) was honored by the league last Wednesday as she is soon leaving to live with her daughter in Florida. Jeanette has earned the nickname of Madame Butterfly for her butterfly notes to friends. In appreciation, she was presented with a butterfly bouquet. “I’m going to miss you all,” she said, “and I promise to write.” As for her advice, “kick ass for little Rhody.” When a member of the card league accused her of using a swear, she laughed and declared, “that ain’t a swear; it’s meaningful.”
