Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island recently honored several local organizations at its 2017 BlueAngel Community Health Grants Event. Grants were awarded to Rhode Island nonprofit organizations combating the critical issue of childhood obesity. The Rhode Island Public Health Institute’s Food on the Move mobile food market, which addresses the lack of access to affordable, healthful food in underserved neighborhoods throughout the state, received $50,000 to expand markets to schools and family housing sites, and by holding evening markets to reach working parents.
