Dottie McCarthy of the Warwick Board of Canvassers found herself in the unusual position of telling voters they couldn’t enter the William Shields Post polls on Primary Day Tuesday. When a poll worker detected the small of natural gas, which was confirmed by one of the first voters at the poll as well as the police officer stationed there, moderator Amy Fitton-Mitchell called the Fire Department. National Grid was also called, but the polls were closed for about 40 minutes. The cause of the odor was believed to be an extinguished pilot light to a kitchen stove although that wasn’t confirmed. Here McCarthy talks with Vivian Iadevaia who made sure she voted once the poll was given the green light. (Warwick Beacon photo)

That's what they said so that they could destroy ballots that had been cast. This was a dry run for November. The system IS rigged and your vote only counts if you vote for the proper candidate.
