(Strange movie)

We’re not sure who the audience is for this strange cartoon feature, supposedly based on Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

The drawings are decent. The colors are bright. The plot is much too confusing for children. Some of the darker characters may frighten the younger ones.

There’s a Fairy Kingdom and a Dark Forest, and never the twain shall meet. There are fairies and goblins and elves, all battling for a love potion made from primrose petals.

Mistaken identities, people falling in love with the wrong people, battles of good and evil all play a part in the muddled tale.

Interestingly, over two dozen songs from past decades are used to help tell the story. When the fairy princess sees her true love kissing another fairy, she breaks into “What Do You Do When You Fall In Love...” “Love Is Strange” and “Wild Thing” are songs that parents will remember, but certainly not kids or even young adults.

The movie is strange and may find a particular audience, but we’re not sure what that audience may be. We couldn’t find a rating, but there seemed to be nothing to worry about.
