Robert and Jane Larrabee of Appleton St., Cranston, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Lynn Larrabee, to Nicholas Anthony Cannata, son of Anthony and Christine Cannata of Grace St., Cranston.

The future bride is a graduate of Cranston High School East and Bryant University. She is a marketing and communications specialist at New England Controls in Mansfield, Mass.

The future groom is a graduate of Cranston High School east and Rhode Island College. He is a store manager at Rite Aid Pharmacy in North Attleboro, Mass.

Nick and Sara started dating on January 13, 2009 after meeting in their high school Spanish class at Cranston East. Sara was heading to Bryant University in the fall to pursue her undergraduate degree in communications, while Nick was a junior and had one more year to finish at CHSE. After graduating in 2010, Nick headed to Rhode Island College to pursue his undergraduate degree in operations management. High school sweethearts are rare, but the couple stuck together through it all, and in 2013 Sara graduated from Bryant and Nick followed in 2014 graduating from RIC. Fast-forward eight years into the relationship and on January 13, 2017, Nick popped the big question outside of the Boston Bruins Bobby Orr statue at the TD Garden (both are big hockey fans). Both still reside in Cranston and are so excited for the next chapter in their love story.

The couple doesn't know when or where they will get married just yet, but are hoping for 2019 – their 10th year of being together.
