In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the East Greenwich Drug Program and East Greenwich Academy Foundation will be hosting a cookout fundraiser this Saturday at Goddard Park from noon to 3 p.m. to raise awareness about behavioral health issues.
Together with the National Institute for Croquet Education (NICE), the Town of East Greenwich and the Academy Foundation want to help people learn how to protect their mental health in tough times and improve mental well-being for the rest of their lives. The day will feature welcome remarks for EG Drug Program director Bob Houghtaling, croquet play, free NICE t-shirts and lunch.
A $10 donation is requested, and all proceeds will go towards a mental health agency or charity. Event participants will have the opportunity to vote for which organization will receive the funds that day; however, one program nominated so far is Camp Ruggles, a camp held for children with behavioral issues.
