Saturday walk to support Misty Lourenco in battle against cancer

Posted

A benefit walk for Misty Lourenco, sponsored by her family, friends, and neighbors, will be held at Warwick City Park’s walking trail this Saturday, September 27th. Misty, a wife, mother of four, and manager of the Governor Francis Farms Washington Trust Bank branch, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma bone cancer in July.

Misty has been fully involved in Warwick’s wrestling and football programs for many years, and community members helped organize this walk to assist her and her family with the long and financially difficult road to recovery.

All runners and walkers, regardless of age or fitness level, are welcome to enjoy the City Park pathway with scenic views of Brushneck Cove, Buttonwoods Cove and Narragansett Bay.

Registration and check in will begin at 9 a.m. at City Park, with the event starting at 10. There is a registration fee of $35 per participant, with a $20 fee for children under the age of 12. Supporters are invited to stay for food, raffles, games, and a corn-hole tournament following the walk. All proceeds will benefit the Misty Lourenco Fund.

To make a contribution, visit www.gofundme.com/Misty-Lourenco-Fund, or by mail through the Misty Lourenco Fund at 181 Carlton Avenue, Warwick, RI 02889. Additional questions may be directed to Kim Swanson at kswan205@verizon.net or Coach Matt McGrew at mmcgrew@seacorp.com.
