Save The Bay announces expanded ‘Artists for Bay’ show

Posted

Save The Bay has announced a Call for Artist submissions for the annual Artists For The Bay Show & Sale. The show features local painters, photographers and jewelers. Last year, more than 138 pieces of affordable art and jewelry were featured at the holiday show in December.

This year, Save The Bay has expanded its artist search and anticipates many new artists and jewelers. The two-month show & sale kicks off at an opening reception on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., which is open to the public. Tickets are on sale for $30 and include a night of art, food, cocktails, raffles and live music.

“We are trying to expand the styles and subject matter of art we offer to our buyers, who are our loyal donors, members, business partners, board community and community members,” said Event Manager Leanne Danielsen. “Many people in the community are loyal to this event because it’s a very elegant night of fun that offers affordable art and jewelry for holiday giving.”

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Save The Bay. The show will be open to the public through the end of January. All sales are tax free. If unable to attend the Opening Reception, interested buyers can visit the Bay Center Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through January 31, 2015 to purchase the art.

The Opening Reception includes food provided by Fireworks Catering, Sin Desserts, and Narragansett Creamery. Beverages are provided by Bottles, Gooseneck Vineyards, Granny Squibbs and Starbucks.

Artists can visit www.savebay.org to find submission guidelines and forms to submit. The deadline for consideration is November 6. Tickets are also on sale at the website for $30. If you have any questions, please contact Leanne Danielsen via email at ldanielsen@savebay.org or call 272-3540. The Bay Center is located at 100 Save The Bay Drive, Providence.
