Greg Abate, the international talented saxophonist and flautist, will perform at the Third Annual Quahoggers Jamboree at Warwick Public Library next Wednesday.

Abate, a guest player at last year’s Jamboree, will make his Warwick appearance before leaving for a tour in the United Kingdom. His backup players will be Dave Zinno on bass, Ben Cook on piano and Gary Johnson on drums.

Abate’s music incorporates bop and swing music into his set comprised of bebop classics and original music. Early on in his career Abate played as lead alto saxophone while on tour with Ray Charles Orchestra and has since continued to compose his own original music throughout the rest of his career according to his biography.

Before Abate’s performance the library has planned several other special guests. To celebrate the bond between Warwick and quahogging, two commercial quahoggers, Dave Ghigliotty and Jody King, will discuss their profession as well as demonstrate their equipment and trade.

David Norton Stone, the humorous author of “Clamcake Summer” and “Stuffie Summer,” will discuss both of his books as well as his expedition to find the best clam cake and stuffie in Rhode Island. At the Jamboree he will divulge his discoveries to attendees.

There will be a viewing of “You Must Be This Tall: The Story of Rocky Point Park” to stir up some nostalgia of the former amusement park.

Professionals won’t be the only ones discussing Rhode Island’s long history of quahogging. There will also be a video booth through which concertgoers can record their own memories.

The Jamboree will be held outside of the library by the Warwick Quahogger statue by Antonio Tobias Mendez sculpture, which will act as the centerpiece or communal for the event. The Third Annual Quahoggers Jamboree is free to the public and held rain or shine from 5 to 8 p.m. In the event of rain the concert will be moved inside the library.
