Schools start Aug. 29, registration begins Monday

While there is still some summer vacation left before Warwick schools open Aug. 29, school registration gets underway this coming Monday and runs through Aug. 24 for elementary students. Registration for elementary students is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and any child who plans to attend Grade 1 must have attended a state recognized or accredited kindergarten program.

Registration for secondary students runs from Aug. 21 to the 24th and again on Aug. 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Not all students will attend school on Aug. 29.

Seventh graders only will attend Aldrich, Gorton and Winman Junior High Schools on the 29th. The following day both 7th and 8th graders will attend.

A similar schedule is set for 9th graders who will attend Pilgrim, Vets and Toll Gate High Schools on Aug. 29 with all grades returning for classes on the following day.

According to a release issued by Superintendent Peter Horoschak, students who have been tutored during the summer or have attended summer school in other school districts are to report to the appropriate subject area department chair or principal on Aug. 22, 23 or 24.

Lunch will be served in all schools on Aug. 29.

Teachers get a head start on students as they are slated to report Aug. 27 for a professional development day from 9 a.m. to noon. Teacher orientation is the following day. Teachers are to report at their regularly scheduled starting time.
