Seat belt law leads to other arrests

Posted

In a press release last week, the Warwick Police Department cited the number of tickets it gave out in its latest Click it or Ticket campaign of increased enforcement of seat belt laws. Warwick joined national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates across the country in a seat belt enforcement campaign, which ran from Sept. 24 through Sept. 30.

During the mobilization, officers ticketed motorists day and night for failing to wear their seat belts. The goal was to keep everyone safe and to prevent the senseless injuries and deaths because someone chose not to wear their seat belt.

Over the course of the weeklong campaign, Warwick Police officers issued 154 seat belt violations, but they also arrested five motorists for operating on suspended licenses and made one unrelated felony arrest.

The Warwick Police Department strongly believes that the use of seat belts helps to save lives and motorists need to remember Click it or Ticket, especially if they are guilty of something other than choosing not to buckle up.

Good job of cathing these people, but you know the ones driving without a license will keep on driving...
