Senior stars can really swing
Toll Gate faculty and their partners – all members of the senior class – line up in a recent rehearsal for Dancing with the Seniors that will be held this Saturday at the school gym.

With only days left to the big event this Saturday, Toll Gate seniors and teachers have literally stepped up rehearsals for the school’s seventh annual Dancing with the Seniors. This year’s producers, math teacher Gina Arpin and principal secretary Peggy McKeever, estimate couples have logged more than 30 hours of choreographing and practicing a dance chosen from music to best fit the theme, “At the Movies.” Serving as host for the evening is Lonna Razza, physical education teacher. The event that raises thousands of dollars for the senior class packs the school gym and, like the television show it has been patterned after, includes pre-dance videos and interviews with performers and, naturally, judges’ comments and scoring. The winning senior receives prom tickets and teacher a $50 gift certificate. It has become so popular that students vie to dance with teachers and, in some cases, seek to nail down a partner as freshmen. English teacher Darlene Netcoh, who makes her third appearance as a performer this year, says the event appeals to “those of us who enjoy having fun and making fools of ourselves.” Dancing with the Seniors starts at 6:30 p.m. at the school gym. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
