Shirley M. (Anderson) Stromberg, 78, of Meadow Drive, died December 17, 2011 at Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island. She was the wife of William E. Stromberg.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late George F. and Sara P. (Mellen) Anderson, she had been a West Warwick resident for 54 years. Mrs. Stromberg was a correspondent at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 14 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of Pilgrim Senior Center and a communicant of St. Mary Church, Crompton.

Besides her husband she leaves four sons, William M. Stromberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., Edward F. Stromberg of Weymouth, Mass., Paul F. Stromberg of Warwick and Michael G. Stromberg of Lincoln; two daughters, Ann M. Barone of Johnston and Mary C. Lancellotta of Coventry; two sisters, Jean Benoit of West Warwick and Barbara Baribeault of Willimantic, Conn.; a brother, Robert Anderson of Coventry; 13 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Donahue, Mary Smoot, Marjorie Harmon, Thomas and Richard Anderson.

Her funeral will be held Dec. 21 at 8:30 a.m. from Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Crompton, 66 Church St., West Warwick, at 10 a.m. Calling hours are Dec. 20 from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
