Should tree heights be limited?

Posted

To the Editor:

We have lived in Warwick for over 36 years and recently had a tree taken down that looked like it was leaning toward my next-door neighbor. We had a tree on the other side of the house, which lost a big branch, narrowly missing our house.

That tree was also cut down.

How ironic that we should be hit by a neighbor’s tree, causing damage to siding and roof! Looking around the neighborhood, there are trees that are too tall for a suburban neighborhood! This is not a rural area! Maybe there should be an ordinance stipulating tree height allowed. Does Warwick have an arborist to do such inspections?

Debbie, you can't be serious. You want to limit the size of my trees? Having majestic trees is what many home owners buy properties for. For you to even suggest that government now get involved in limiting the size of trees is scary. Your home was hit. Sorry. That's what insurance is for. You remind me of the idiots along Ives Rd in Potowomut that wanted to cut down all of the trees along Ives Rd because drunk drivers were hitting them and getting killed.
