Popular singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco makes her return engagement to the Park Theatre in Cranston on Sunday November 15.

DiFranco, known as the “Little Folksinger,” is on tour promoting her new Righteous Babe release, “Allergic to Water.” Her album blends abstract imagery and understated melodies, with personal reflections on her life in New Orleans where she is now raising her two children with her partner and producer Mike Napolitano.

“It’s such a humbling and grueling thing to raise children,” DiFranco said. “And that makes playing music more precious and makes me more grateful. It’s a real balancing act, but it also has a balancing effect.”

A strong believer in human rights – which is reflected in her songs – Ani has played at numerous benefit concerts around the world. DiFranco has recorded with such music luminaries as legendary R&B saxophonist Maceo Parker, as well as Prince. Her fall tour will include noted musicians such as bassist Todd Sickafoose, drummer Terence Higgins and violinist Jenny Scheinman on various stops.

Ani DiFranco is well-known for her popular albums, “Living in Clip” and “To the Teeth.” Her strongest influences include singer Woody Guthrie and famed poet Sekou Sundiata. A long supporter of gay rights, in 2009 DiFranco became a Woody Guthrie Award recipient, as a voice of positive social change.
