We are fans of Warwick’s Smokey Bones, where a beer and a burger or slab of ribs have been our favorites for years. We were invited to join them for a sampling of their new ”beverage book”, featuring 14 new signature cocktails, as well as a new lineup of craft beers.
No, we didn’t try them all, but we did taste such exotic drinks as Orange Passion Rita, Fresh Diamond Margarita and Smokin’ Cucumber Mary.
The drinks compliment Smokey Bones’ new menu, which includes some tasty appetizers that we sampled between tastings. We raved about the warm soft pretzels dipped in a garlic sauce and new varieties of chicken wings (try the garlic ones) and the loaded fries (bacon, cheese and a chipotle mayo).
The man behind the transformation is Smokey Bones CEO Christopher Artinian, who came to Smokey Bones after 17 years with Morton’s Steakhouse, with the goal of elevating the dining experience.
While customers can still enjoy their burger and beer, Corporate Beverage Manager Mike Herchuk invites you to try their new unique cocktails. He’ll even give you the recipes.
“We want to have the best drink a casual dining restaurant can offer,” he said. “We have trained our bartenders, who are now experts in mixology.”
The drinks are reasonably priced between $6.25 for the Triple Spiced Rum Punch to $7.25 for the Blood Orange Passion Rita. Citrus garnishes will come close to meeting your daily fruit requirements.
Joyce loved the Mango Pepparita, which included 1800 Silver Tequila, Patron Citronge, Monin Mango Premium, and Gourmet Syrup. Add to that two jalapeno slices, a red pepper slice, Kosher salt and black pepper, top with a lime wheel, and you have one hot drink.
I’m a bit more conservative and preferred the Blood Passion Rita, made with the same tequila, Solerno Blood, Orange Liqueur, Monin Passion Fruit and Premium Gourmet Syrup. Add some cranberry juice, lime sour mix, Kosher salt and lime wheels, and you can pretend you are on the beach in the Caribbean.
