There were no “take out” orders for snow, but Macy’s at Warwick Mall was shoveling it off the roof last Thursday and Friday before more of the white stuff arrived on the weekend. According to a contractor at the site, a crew of five shoveled and carted snow into a tarp that was then lifted off the roof by crane and dumped into a truck that drove it to a site at the mall. Aram Garabedian, managing partner at the mall, pointed out that the Macy’s store is independently owned from the rest of the mall. As for the mall, he said, “We’re constantly monitoring the roof.” He said, as of Friday, drains were clear and there was no need to remove snow. And like many of us, Garabedian wished for some warmer weather to naturally take care of all the snow. Curtis Johnson is behind the wheel of the truck waiting for the pickup.
