Sotirios G. “Sam” Xiarhos, 75, died March 3, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of Kathy (Sionis) Xiarhos for 43 years.
Born in Kollines, Arcadia, Greece, he was a son of the late George and Vasiliki (Marneris) Xiarhos. He was owner of Sam’s New York System on Sandy Lane since 1968. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959 and a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the Warwick Senior Center Card League. He was an avid bowler, a Yankees fan and a Giants fan.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife, Marie, George and Peter Xiarhos; four grandchildren, Samuel, Stephen, Katrina and Philip; a brother, Christopher Xiarhos; and three sisters, Maria Vlahos, Anna LeClair and Connie Dernikos. He was the brother of the late Christos and Arthur Xiarhos.
His funeral will be held March 7 at 8:45 a.m. from Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a service in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston, at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in North Burial Ground. Visiting hours are March 6 from 4-8 p.m.
