Using a shiny set of brass scissors, Mayor Scott Avedisian was present as vehicle sales manager Brian Steere, surrounded by fellow workers, sliced the ribbon Thursday to officially open expanded Ryder Truck operations on Jefferson Boulevard. The company started operations in Warwick in 1970 and now not only offers truck rentals, but also sales. According to Eugene Tangney, vice president of asset management, the expanded sales operation means the creation of 10 jobs. He said Ryder has 62 operations globally. He said used truck sales are good and he projects 2,000 truck sales from the location. Looking at the renovated space, Avedisian expressed amazement. He said the last time he had been on the property was in 2010 and that that time; the building was flooded by the Pawtuxet.
