Susan Groh, a leader in volunteer work in the state, was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. In hopes to find a match, as well as raise funds to cover medical bills, a spaghetti supper and bone marrow drive is being held in her honor Saturday at Greenwood Elementary School at 93 Sharon Street.
Seatings are at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. and advance reservations are encouraged. Spaghetti, meatballs, salad and a beverage will be served. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and children ages 3 to 12. Children under the age of 3 eat for free. Take out is also available for $7. There will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. For advance tickets and information, visit bethematchforsusan.blogspot.com. Rhode Island Blood Center will be on hand providing an opportunity for people to register to be bone marrow/stem cell donors. A simple cheek swab is all that’s needed.
