Special Olympics Torch Run Plunge set for March 2

Posted

On Sunday, March 2 Special Olympics Rhode Island will host its seventh annual Torch Run Plunge at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the plunging into the water will take place soon after at 12 p.m. There will also be a costume contest, with judging taking place prior to the plunge.

There are heated men’s and ladies changing tents, and a post plunge party will be held at the carousel at Goddard Park beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The party will have food from Eddy’s BBQ, music by Exceptional Wedding DJ’s, raffles and a costume award ceremony.

In order to take the plunge, a $50 minimum donation is required. All non-plungers can join the party afterwards for a $15 donation.

Those plunging can create their own Firstgiving fundraising page at www.firstgiving.com/soriTR. There are incentives given for the more money each person raises.

If you are not using Firstgiving, please register by Monday, Feb. 24th by emailing Tracy Garabedian at tracy@specialolympicsri.org.

For additional information regarding the Torch Run Plunge, please email Lauren Testoni at lauren@
