A woman who was killed when fire swept through her Spofford Avenue home in Warwick was identified Friday as 61-year-old Nancy Cadorette, who lived at 82 Spofford.

The fire began in a converted garage around 10 a.m. on Thursday while there were two people in the building.

Police said Cadorette died when she ran back into the burning building to rescue her dog. The dog also died in the fire.

Warwick Det. Capt. Robert Nelson said arson investigators would not speculate about the cause of the fire until they’ve finished the investigation by Warwick detectives and the State Fire Marshal’s Office. They reported that a specially trained accelerant-sniffing dog from Massachusetts was helping them with their work.
