Spooky Zoo offers Halloween fun for families

Roger Williams Park Zoo’s popular daytime “Spooky Zoo” event will return on Oct. 25-26.

In addition to Halloween-themed activities that are free with zoo admission, all children age 12 and under who come dressed in costume receive half-priced zoo admission. Toddlers age 2 and under are always free.

Spooky Zoo festivities include the popular trick-or-treat trail, pumpkin treats for the animals, creepy-crawly animal encounters, pumpkin carving demonstrations, games, roaming costumed characters, music and more, all free with zoo admission. The zoo encourages families to bring their own goodie bags for the trick-or-treat trail, and to post pictures of their costumes on the zoo’s Facebook or Twitter pages.

Spooky Zoo activities are presented with support from National Grid, Little Rhody Farms, Children’s Workshop, Newport Creamery, Macaroni Kid, Hasbro, Pretzel Crisps, Katsiroubas Brothers and Clif Kid.

Roger Williams Park Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., October through March, and until 5 p.m. in the summer. The last admission is 30 minutes before closing. Admission is $14.95 for adults, $9.95 for children ages 3 to 12 and $12.95 for seniors ages 62 and over. Toddlers 2 and under and zoo members get in free.
