In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, St. Mary’s Home for Children will host the second annual Heal and Hope Walk to benefit programs serving children who are victims of abuse Sunday, April 28.
Since 1877, St. Mary’s Home for Children has been caring for Rhode Island children. From its beginnings as an orphanage, St. Mary’s has evolved into a comprehensive treatment program for boys and girls who have been traumatized by abuse, as well as those experiencing psychiatric and/or emotional challenges. Children are treated and cared for in the residential, educational and outpatient treatment programs located in North Providence.
An approximate 3-mile walk through the surrounding neighborhood begins at 11 a.m., 420 Fruit Hill Avenue, North Providence.
Children’s activities, an education area and fitness demonstrations will take place at the end of the walk. Food will be available for purchase.
Registration fee is $25 per person, $15 for children 12 and under. T-shirts will be provided if registered by April 12. To register, visit www.smhfc.org or call 353-3900 x262. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
