St. Peter's girls team makes state Final Four
Submitted photo

The St. Peter’s girls’ midget basketball team started the season with eight of 12 players never playing organized basketball, but anyone watching the team know wouldn’t guess that was a case. With a stunning 31-10 blowout of St. John Vianney of Cumberland, St Peter's advanced to the Final Four of the state tournament.

“These Girls are truly amazing, they never once gave up on working hard, and they know with all the hard work paying off they can play with any team in the state,” said coach Frank Brown.

St. Peter's jumped out to an early lead Sunday and never looked back. With six different girls in the scoring column, offense wasn't an issue. Defensively, St. Peter’s surprised their opponent with tenacious full and half court pressure, limiting the 10-2 St. John Vianney team to just 10 points. St. Peter's will play its semifinal game on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount St. Charles against the winner of the Our Lady of Mercy-St. Barnabas winner.
