Stage Door Lounge at Park Theatre to re-launch with local music nights and more beginning in September

Posted

This fall, the historic Park Theatre in Cranston will re-launch the Stage Door Lounge with special nights of music featuring local artists and performers passing through the area. Adjacent to the Theatre, and housed within its complex at 848 Park Avenue, the Stage Door Lounge offers a unique atmosphere to enjoy live music while indulging in a variety of food selections and cocktails.

Currently finalizing a full schedule of performances with a wide-range of artists, the Stage Door Lounge will host Roots on Thursday nights, followed by Blues on Fridays and Jazz on Saturdays. There will also be nights and events dedicated to the LGBT community.

“Having the Stage Door Lounge offer live music and special events that can be enjoyed by the entire community is one more way we’re making the Park Theatre a true entertainment destination,” said Yusuf Gandhi, executive director of the Park Theatre. “It’s an incredible space to spend an evening listening to some of the area’s best artists in an intimate setting. We’re really excited about what’s in store.”

The musical festivities begin on Friday, Sept. 18 when Greg Hodde Blue Reign and Riverside Vinny & The Revolution perform their spectacular Blues sound beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at just $6 each and will be available through the Park Theatre’s Box Office.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Stage Door Lounge will welcome jazz specialists Complex Simplicity featuring Mike Rollins and Neil Letendre. The music begins at 8 p.m., and tickets will be $10.

For more information on upcoming shows at the Stage Door Lounge, visit the Park Theatre’s website at www.ParkTheatreRI.com or call 467-PARK. The Park Theatre is located at 848 Park Avenue, Cranston. Free parking is available for all shows.

Built in 1924, the Park Theatre was as a cultural landmark for nearly eight decades until its closing in 2002. Following seven years and $10 million in renovations, the Park was reborn as Rhode Island’s newest performing arts center. A fully-equipped, state of the art multi-purpose facility, the Park features concerts, theatrical performances, opera, dance, children’s and family shows, and more. Through extensive renovations, the Park boasts a larger, deeper stage and 1,000 plush seats with significantly more legroom than most theatres. The facility also includes the Stage Door Lounge, a pre-show destination offering a unique environment for guests to enjoy dinners, appetizers, and cocktails before a performance. Free parking is available for all events. For more information visit www.ParkTheatreRI.com.
