Stage Right Studio hosting 'Wings: The Photographs of Frank O'Donnell'

Stage Right Studio in Woonsocket hosts an open house on Friday, November

2 for the unveiling of "Wings: The Photographs of Frank O'Donnell," a fun and often inspiring collection of winged creatures, including birds, butterflies and dragonflies.

O'Donnell's photographic journey began with the construction of a memorial garden for his 15-year-old daughter Keri, who died in a car accident in the summer of 2010.

"Something inspired us to build a garden to attract butterflies," said O'Donnell, "which are seen by many as spiritual creatures." What started as one butterfly bush turned into two full-fledged gardens in the backyard of the O'Donnells' North Providence home.

"In the first season we didn't get any butterflies, but we did get

plenty of birds bringing a variety of color to the garden," said

O'Donnell. "This past year, the butterflies showed up. And dragonflies too, also often seen as spiritual creatures."

The collection includes monarchs and swallowtails, dragonflies, cardinals, blue jays, hawks, gulls and more. Most pictures were taken in the memorial garden; others come from some of Keri's favorite places, including a vacation spot on Cape Cod and her aunt's backyard.

The pictures will hang for the month of November at Stage Right and are available for sale. All proceeds from the sales will go to the Keri Anne O'Donnell Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships and grants to young people who demonstrate a passion for performance. Since its inception,

the fund has offered college scholarships to graduating seniors at North Providence High School (Keri was part of the Class of 2013) and has paid for summer classes at Camp Broadway and the youth programs at Theatre By

The Sea and The Gamm, among others.

Stage Right Studio (www.stagerightstudio.org) can be found behind the Museum of Work and Culture at 68 South Main Street in Woonsocket. The open house runs from 6-9 p.m. Wine and light fare will be available.

There is no admission charge.
