State Preservation Grant applications available for arts, culture, public historic sites

The Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission (RIHPHC) is pleased to announce the availability of $1.6 million in State Preservation Grants to support renovation projects for museums, cultural art centers and public historic sites located in historic structures throughout the state.

Properties may include, but are not limited to, libraries, city and town halls, historic sites, museums, performance spaces, art centers, theatres, and concert halls. Eligible sites must be operated by private non-profit organizations, state government, or local government agencies. Grant amounts range from $8,000 to $150,000, and grantees are required to raise matching funds for their projects.

Applications for State Preservation Grants are due on or before Aug. 14, 2015. Applicants will be notified of grant decisions in late December 2015. Future State Preservation Grant rounds will take place in 2016 and 2017.
