State finalist

Winman Junior High School science teacher Carolyn Higgins was one of three teachers statewide to be named a finalist for a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching. She and her peers were among educators honored at a Rhode Island Education Recognition Celebration at Orchard Farms Elementary School in Cranston last Thursday evening. Here, Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Deborah Gist congratulates Higgins. During the ceremony, teachers who have achieved National Board Certification were also honored. Warwick teachers achieving certification are: Fatima Barbosa, Sally Rovane, Ellen Casey, Ryan Lombardi, Kathryn Chasse, Sandra Savella and Mary Tow.
