Statewide Business After Hours tonight at Rhodes

The 19th annual Statewide Business After Hours will be held tonight at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet and Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce’s Lauren Slocum could not be more excited.

“My favorite part is sitting back and watching all of the connections happen,” says the chamber president, “ones that will prove to be valuable in years to come.”

This networking event is open to individuals across the state, not just for Chamber members.

In prior years, anywhere from 700 to 1,000 people have attended. This year, Slocum confidently believes that numbers will surpass 800. “That’s the safe answer,” she says, “but I’m expecting much more.”

A coalition of Chambers has worked to make this event possible. Chambers hosing the event are Central Rhode Island, East Bay, East Greenwich, East Providence, Greater Cranston, Greater Providence, Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Newport County, North Central, North Kingston and the Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce.

“Everyone has been working so hard,” Slocum said. “All of them have been working together, and it is awesome to see how it will all come together.”

More than 120 companies and organizations will have displays at the event, including the Newport Artillery Company that will be bringing uniforms from famous historical figures.

“The introductions and connections at this event will not only benefit the businesses but also provide a long-term opportunity for growth,” said Slocum.

Slocum says businesses from many sectors will be exhibiting their displays tonight. These include everything from finance to communications, technology, health, travel, personal services, senior care, massage and more. With this knowledge in mind, Slocum says that she “cannot be more excited.”

Two Chamber members are also in for a special treat. The DIF Design and the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce have announced the Rhode Island Extreme Website Makeover Contest. Two individuals will receive a Website Makeover, courtesy of DIF Design.

Interested parties must fill out an application at www.rimakeover.com for full contest rules and additional information. Applications will be accepted starting today and will end June 5 this year.

Anyone may attend this event, held tonight at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. The cost is $15 per person, cash bar.

The night will be complemented with food provided by the Russell Morin Fine Catering and Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. For reservations call 732-1100.
