Summers brothers earn religious emblems

On Friday, Jan. 25, Boy Scouts from Troop 7 Buttonwoods and Cub Scouts from Pack 7 Buttonwoods attended Scout Shabbat at Temple Am David in Warwick in support of the Scouts who had earned their religious emblems. Boy Scout Randy Summers received his Ner Tamid emblem and his brother, Webelos Cub Scout Andrew Summers, received his Aleph emblem.

Randy started working on his Ner Tamid in April 2011 and completed it in October 2012. He worked on it while at Yawgoog with Rabbi Saul Goodman and at home with Rabbi Richard Perlman and Barbara Dwares.

“It is an honor to have earned my Ner Tamid,” Randy said.

Andrew started working on his Aleph in March 2012 and completed it in December 2012. Andrew worked with Barbara Dwares, Rabbi Goodman, Rabbi Perlman and his brother Randy to complete the Aleph program.

When asked what was interesting about working on the Aleph, Andrew said, “Everything was interesting about working on my Aleph.”
