Surprise gift gives hope of mobility for 4-year-old

An anonymous Secret Santa provided a life-changing Christmas gift of a motorized scooter to a 4-year-old Warwick girl with cerebral palsy.

On Christmas day, Courtney Coates and her fiancé, Tom, celebrated the morning by opening gifts with their daughter, Deonna. Upon finishing, Courtney opened the front door to let their dog outside to find an unexpected surprise – an AutoGo electric mobility chair by their front steps dressed in a huge red bow with a card.

“For a sweet girl who could use a sweet ride,” was written on the outside envelope, with a signature inside from “A loving neighbor, God bless. Love, Santa.”

“We’re not too sure who it might be, we think it might be the neighbors at the top of the street, but we’re not 100 percent sure,” said Coates of the unknown gift giver. “I would love to know who did this for my family, but it just says from Santa.”

Deonna’s cerebral palsy affects her body’s movement and muscle coordination, making it difficult to get around. She stood for the first time just recently. The new chair, estimated to cost about $1,000, if not more, will go a long way to help her navigate and travel with ease. For the moment, Deonna is not able to drive the chair, but Coates believes that day will come.

“This meant everything; it took us by surprise, that’s for sure. We’re really very thankful,” said Coates. “Everyone told me to share this with the Warwick Beacon so everyone can really see the true meaning of Christmas and how great Warwick really is.”

Wonderful news! (What's sad is that it's so rare...)

There is lots of good news out there. Unfortunately, the hate mongering media has corn flakes to sell so they go with bad news.

95% of all crises are manufactured by the media.
