While working in his backyard on Fisher Avenue Monday afternoon, Chris Swanson heard a commotion from his cat, followed by a strange birdcall. Sitting on top of his shed was a Lady Amherst pheasant, a bird native to southwest China. The bird seemed unafraid, exploring Swanson’s yard and pool. He contacted the city, the Audubon Society, Roger Williams Park Zoo and the state in an effort to catch the bird, but was unable to receive assistance. After posing for a few photos, the pheasant flew off towards Greenwood Terrace.
