Suspect arrested in series of break-ins

Posted

After a three-week-long investigation, the Warwick Police detective division executed a search warrant and an arrest warrant at the home of Brian Smith, 21, of 20 Monterey Rd. in Warwick on Jan. 4. The investigation revealed that Smith was linked to at least five, and as many as seven or more, housebreaks between November and January. He was taken into custody at that address, found hiding in a closet. Numerous valuables were seized from the home, ranging from laptops, iPads, video games and jewelry, totaling thousands of dollars worth.

Smith was charged and remanded to the ACI. Police have already reunited some property with its rightful owners and will be contacting more victims for property identification as the investigation continues.

Warwick Police handled 327 burglaries in 2012, down from 359 in 2011.

Another great job by our Warwick Police Department. They have the toughest job in the city, especially in the conimicut section. Thanks

Great job! I hope they catch the people who broke into the other homes. Warwick is a great place to live. We just need to keep it safe. I feel we need more community police to keep a watch on some areas.

Is it really worth going to jail for stealing a bunch of junk from China? Get a job, what a waste, you know this kid will do it again as soon as he is released.
